Domestic Violence Division

Domestic Violence Petitions for Emergency Protective Orders and Intimate Partner Orders of Protection are accepted 24 hours a day, seven days a week by the Office of Circuit Court Clerk to assist victims of domestic violence or dating violence.

Victim’s Advocates located in Office of Fayette County Sheriff’s Amanda’s Center can identify the type of protection for which you are eligible and assist with asking the court for that protection.

The Office of Fayette County Sheriff’s victim’s advocates can also provide information about community resources and offer advice based on an assessment of the level of danger present in each situation.

Domestic Violence can occur to males and females, dating partners (as defined by Kentucky law), children and adults. Domestic Violence knows no economic or educational boundaries and is defined in many ways, not just by extreme violence. Threatening and controlling behavior, violence towards pets and destruction of property can all be considered forms of domestic violence.
