The Knox County Judicial Center Project was authorized by the General Assembly in 2024. The maximum annual use allowance is $4 million.
The project is currently under construction and is anticipated to be completed in 2029/2030. The Knox County Judicial Center will be a three-story facility that houses all court services for Knox County, including circuit and district court, the circuit court clerk’s office and statewide programs.
The Project Development Board (PDB) meets on the last Friday of the month. PDB members include designate chair CJE Mike Mitchell, Circuit Judge Gregory A. Lay, District Judge John P. Chappell, Circuit Court Clerk Greg Helton, Dennis Jordan and KBA Rep. John Knox Mills. The Knox County PDB has yet to select an architect, construction manager and financial advisor.
