Judge Jones has served on the Kentucky Court of Appeals since July 2013, when she was appointed to fill a vacancy. She was elected to a full eight-year term in November 2014 and reelected to a second eight-year term in November 2022.
Since joining the court, Judge Jones has played an active role in court administration, working to improve the appellate system for litigants, attorneys and the public. She chairs the court's Administrative Orders Committee and serves on its Education Committee. She is also a member of the Kentucky Court Facilities Standards Committee and the Kentucky eCourts Program Management Committee. From 2019 to 2022, she served as chief judge pro tempore and chaired several Court of Appeals committees, including the Personnel Committee.
Judge Jones is a member of the Kentucky Bar Association, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and the Salmon P. Chase Inn of Court. She frequently speaks at judicial education seminars and programs across Kentucky.
Before joining the Court of Appeals, Judge Jones served as an administrative law judge for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, presiding over workers compensation claims. She also worked for more than five years as a staff attorney for the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky and served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge John G. Heyburn II.
Earlier in her career, Judge Jones practiced law with a focus on complex business litigation and intellectual property matters.
Judge Jones earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Kentucky College of Law. She was elected to the Order of the Coif, recognizing graduates who rank in the top 10% of their class. While in law school, she was a member of the Kentucky Law Journal, the Moot Court Board and the Trial Advocacy Team. She earned her bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, from Transylvania University.
Judge Jones and her husband, Lawrence L. Jones II, live on a horse farm in Oldham County. They have two children who are college students.
